Suicide in Montana: Guns Matter

From 2012 to 2016, 62 percent of suicides in Montana were completed using firearms. Further, a higher percentage of suicides of Montana youth ages 11 to 17 are completed using firearms as compared to youth suicides in the nation as a whole. In this issue brief, we discuss the relationship between youth access to firearms and suicide, as well as the things that can be done to help prevent and reduce these tragedies.
